Those travelling to Thailand may wonder about the benefits of a private car versus shared shuttles to get to the Eastin Grand Hotel in Bangkok. The Eastin Grand does not provide shuttle service to the hotel, but it does offer a private car and driver for a fee.
A more convenient alternative is a Phayathai car rental through Drive Car Rental. We have an on-site office at the airport, making car rentals a hassle-free experience!
Getting to the Eastin Grand and Bangkok
A traveller arriving at either Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) or Don Mueang Airport (DMK) is around twenty kilometres from the city centre. There are three options to get downtown: airport taxi, rental from Drive Car Rental, or the Red Line train.
The slowest option is the train, but it is also the cheapest way to get there. A taxi will get you into the city quickly, but there are taxi fees and toll road fees to consider.
An alternative is to hire a car from Drive Car Rental’s office at either airport or from our office at the Eastin Grand Hotel.
Getting Around Bangkok by Shuttle
The Eastin Grand does not offer shuttle service within Bangkok or to the airport. A private car can be arranged through the concierge desk, but the fees may be similar to the price of renting a vehicle for an entire day.
There are shuttle services available in Bangkok; these are typically operated by private companies that take visitors to select destinations, such as shopping malls and or major attractions. Some are free, while others charge a small fee.
The biggest disadvantage of the shuttle services is timing. Shuttles often run every thirty minutes or one hour. If guests aren’t at the stop when the shuttle arrives, it will leave.
See More With a Private Rental Car
The Eastin Grand is in a fantastic location with easy access to major roads. Getting to the other side of the city in a rental car is easy, just be sure to have some extra cash on hand to pay tolls.
The downtown area of Bangkok is home to many of its more famous sites, but there is so much more just beyond the reach of public transportation. Bangkok is a perfect hub for travelling to nearby cities with amazing history, culture, and attractions, such as:
- Ayutthaya: This is an ancient capital of Thailand located ninety minutes north of Bangkok. Often called the ‘Angkor Wat of Thailand,’ there are more than one hundred temple ruins spread across Ayutthaya.
- Kanchanaburi: Home of the world-famous Bridge on the River Kwai, Kanchanaburi is about two hours east of Bangkok. It is also the gateway to the spectacular Erawan and Sai Yok National Parks and their legendary waterfalls.
- Khao Yai National Park: The stunning nature preserve is approximately an hour and a half to the northeast of Bangkok, and is home to a pristine jungle, waterfalls, and rare animals.
- Pattaya: The world-famous beach community is located just two hours south of the city. Flights are available, but driving is just as quick. Enjoy a day at the beach and be back in Bangkok the same day.
