This beach is located directly under the landing path for Phuket Airport. It isn’t the most quiet place for sunset, but the view of an oncoming plane in front of the setting sun provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for some amazing photos. 

Bang Tao Beach

One of the longest beaches on the island is a perfect place to find a quiet spot far from the crowds and watch as the sun ducks below the horizon.

Patong Beach

The busiest beach on the island has an excellent sunset view and convenient nightlife if you want to explore after dark. 

Karon and Kata Beaches

These smaller and quieter beaches are a great place to enjoy a sunset with fewer crowds with plenty of dining options.

Nai Han Beach

This southernmost beach that has a great sunset view is also the quietest, with only a few hotels and restaurants nearby. 

West Side Hilly Sunset Views

Between many of the beaches listed above are hilly peninsulas that jut into the ocean with small roads leading to viewpoints. There are also lookouts set into the sides of the low mountain chain that dominates the centre of Phuket Island.

Laem Sing Beach Viewpoint

This hilly outcrop has a fantastic view of Laem Sing Beach and the setting sun over the sea.

Kamala Beach Viewpoint

Similar to Laem Sing, this viewpoint overlooks Kamala Beach from the northern side with excellent vantages of the sunset

Freedom Beach Viewpoint

This viewpoint requires you to climb some stairs, but the view is worth it for those willing to make the trek. It’s often listed as one of the best views in the area.

Kata Beach Viewpoint and the Big Buddha

These are, without a doubt, the most popular viewpoints in Phuket and are accessible by car. Both sites are part of the same hilltop complex and provide an incredible view in almost every direction. 

Promthep Cape 

The southernmost point on the island offers a view of the rocky shoreline dotted with palm trees as it plunges into the sea. It’s the perfect spot to end a long day of sightseeing.
